Gratitude Ritual

Introduction To Practice

There are two hours in our day that are the most critical for intention setting. These peak hours are one hour before bed and one hour after waking up. The gratitude ritual was designed to be preformed for these two peak hours. We invite you to practice this ritual at the beginning or the end of your day.

In this ritual, you will learn to use these hours to optimize your body and mind. By cultivating intent and awareness in this short period of time, you will raise your overall awareness.

Awaken your mind and the awareness of your body.

Step one:

Setting the Tone

Set the tone of the space–this can be done by lighting incense, playing some soft music and taking a few deep breaths.  Settle into your physical space and set an intention of gratitude before beginning your ritual.

 Reflect:

Take this opportunity while you are setting the tone of your space to think through about your day.

What does your day look like?

Will you be working? Spending time with family?

What are grateful for in this moment?

 Step Two:

Get Comfortable

Find a comfortable seat and allow your body and mind to relax. Continue to breathe deeply and relax into the space, opening your mind and preparing your body for your ritual.

As you continue to reflect, inhale deeply for a slow count of five, then exhale for a slow count of five.

Repeat this for eleven breath cycles.

Step Three:

Lighting Candles & Offering Gratitude

Light your pillar candles and recite positive affirmations that speak to you. Fire has a unique ability to cleanse, allowing us to release and reset our systems. Take time to gaze into the flame, allowing your system to reset and release.

Sample Affirmations:

I am whole and healthy, and I fill my life with gratitude.

I am open, abundant, and grateful for today.

Gratitude permeates throughout my being.

I am grateful for my healthy body and healthy mind.

In the spirit of gratitude, I seek to understand and appreciate others.

Step Four:

Accepting and Opening Awareness

Take a moment to sit in the space and feel.  Feel the warmth of the light from your candles.

Continue to breathe deeply.

After you have soaked in your gratitude for a period of time, remind yourself to carry this gratitude with you. You can always return to this space if you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed or simply in need of a moment to reset.
