Pillar Candle Care

To prevent wax spillage, keep your Alkeme candles on a tray or plate while burning, and always maintain at least four inches of distance from other candles. In the case that spillage does occur, allow the wax to cool completely before chipping it away from the affected surface and wiping with a moist cloth. Rest assured that our candles contain no harmful chemicals or additives.

Before each lighting of your candles, trim the wicks to 1/4”. Maintaining this length helps to promote a cleaner and more even burn. Always wait until the candle is completely cooled before trimming the wick.

We recommend burning Alkeme candles for no more than 4 hours at a time. If you wish to burn them for a longer period, use a wick dipper to extinguish the flame and let the wax cool completely before re-igniting. Avoid blowing out your candles to prevent hot wax from spilling onto surfaces and to limit the amount of smoke in your environment.

Larger square pillar candles have a tendency to tunnel. Tunneling occurs when the candle continues to burn down its center rather than across the entire surface area, creating a tunneled look. To help prevent this, we recommend burning the candle for 4 hours for the first burning sessions. This will allow the candles to burn more evenly and prevent extreme tunneling. If tunneling does occur, allow the candle to cool completely before chipping away at the thinnest part of the wax. This method will allow you to maintain the longevity of your candle.
